TERESA PIÑA
Teresa Piña was born in 1961 and currently lives in Sabadell, a city near Barcelona in Catalonia. From an early age, she attended the Escola d'Art de Sabadell.
Because of the demanding nature of her university studies in Mathematics, she set aside her artistic pursuits for a time. She developed her professional career as a computer scientist and, later, earned a Bachelor's degree in Arts from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC).
At the age of 50, she began expressing the emotions she had long kept hidden through painting, creating the series Emotions as well as portraits of women who inspired her.
At the age of 55, she decided to devote herself fully to her artistic career. She has attended workshops led by artists whose work deeply moves her, including Jafet Blanch and Alyssa Monks.
During the summers of 2016 and 2017, she travelled to Africa, where she found the inspiration for her series Touching the Sky and Making Baskets.
Teresa's paintings have been exhibited primarily in Catalonia. She has participated in art exhibitions in Matadepera (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017), Girona (2011), and Terrassa (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015). Her work has also been shown in galleries and cultural venues including Galeria Artesano in Barcelona (2011), Galeria Traç d'Art in Sabadell (2011), Amics de les Arts in Terrassa (2012), the Casal de Cultura in Matadepera (2017), Lafede in Barcelona (2017), the Sant Oleguer Civic Centre in Sabadell (2018), Punt 7 in Barcelona's Horta-Guinardó district (2019), and Sala El Progrés in Ullastrell (2020).
